Appetizers and Desserts

He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man's heart
Psalm 104:13-15

I love serving appetizers and desserts to my company but I hate making them, particularly desserts. Maybe it's because I don't like to measure - too reminiscent of science class or something. I've always been a bit of a free style cook. Actually, I like to do almost everything free style. This is probably why I never get much done. Ah well.

Yesterday I pulled out all the stops. I don't know why. I think the rainy weather was getting to me. Comfort food (even if you have to measure it) is worth the effort if it's raining. Actually, I'm not sure either of these were really "worth it".
Stuffed Zucchini Rolls

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
This may have been the best pie crust I've ever made. Notice I did not post pictures of the horrid key lime pie. I finally found a method for pie crust that is fool proof. Now, if only I liked pie...

  1. Both look delicious but the Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, especially the crust, looks "recipe sharing" worth! Any chance you could post the recipe?????

  2. Yeah, I'm a freestyle cook, too; got it from my parents, who never measured anything. My dad makes the Best Bread In All The World, and it was all "take a handful of flour and mix in water until it looks right." Drove my sisters and me crazy trying to replicate it. I'm close, but I'm still not there ..... And my mothers Famous Fried Chicken? "Oh, just add garlic until you've got enough, but be sure you don't get too much." I'm still working on that one!
